Our 17th Century Lakeland Inn is a hidden gem tucked at the foot of Skiddaw in the unspoilt village of Bassenthwaite, close to Bassenthwaite Lake. A former farmhouse, complete with original beams and open fires, we offer excellent homecooked food and puddings by our chefs. We specialise in Jennings real ales from our local brewery in the nearby Georgian market town of Cockermouth. Local walks to Binsey and Dodd, with walks to Skiddaw via Dash Falls, Cockup, Ullock Pike or Bakestall start from our front door. We are also very close to Trotters World of Animals , Bassenthwaite Lake Sailing Club, Armathwaite Hall, and Dubwath Bridge, starting from the Castle Inn crossroads , just a mile away.
